چکیده
A fiber-coupled-ring passive phase-conjugate mirror is used to achieve mutual thresholding free of bistability effects and to obtain switching among several mutually incoherent light beams.

Fidelity of polarization and spatial information recovery using a fiber-coupled phase-conjugate mirror.
We report the investigation of polarization and spatial information recovery using a fiber-coupled phase-conjugate mirror. A marked dependence of the phase-conjugate output on the input-beam conditions is experimentally observed. A theoretical model for these phenomena is also discussed.
متن کاملOptimization of Bistability in Nonlinear Chalcogenide Fiber Bragg Grating for All Optical Switch and Memory Applications
We solve the coupled mode equations governing the chalcogenide nonlinear fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) numerically, and obtain the bistability characteristics. The characteristics of the chalcogenide nonlinear FBGs such as: switching threshold intensity, bistability interval and on-off switching ratio are studied. The effects of FBG length and its third order nonlinear refractive index on FBG cha...
متن کاملOptical phase-conjugate correction for propagation distortion in nonreciprocal media.
We demonstrate experimentally that the effects of nonreciprocal elements or media that would otherwise spoil phase conjugation can be neutralized by using a tandem combination of a modal- and polarization-scrambling fiber and a phase-conjugate mirror. A theoretical model to explain the experimental results is presented.
متن کاملOptical switching using fiber ring reflectors
We present the results of studies of fiber ring reflectors that are pulse excited in the negative dispersion regime. An intensity-dependent fiber switch is proposed for improved thresholding and pulse output characteristics over those previously reported. Schemes for fiber switches relying on solitary-wave collisioninduced phase shifts are also discussed. A pulse regenerator and logic gates are...
متن کاملNonlinear-optical loop mirror demultiplexer using a random birefringence fiber: comparisons between simulations and experiments.
A numerical simulation of the switching characteristics of a polarization multiplexed nonlinear-optical loop mirror demultiplexer is presented and compared with experiment. The model assumes that the optical fiber that composes the loop has a randomly varying birefringence, that the signal and the control pulses have the same frequency, and that these pulses are nearly solitons. Factors that af...
